My husband and I spent two nights at the Morning Glory Bed and
Breakfast in March, 2009, while we were in the area for job interviews.
Not only did I experience the charm and charisma of Bob and his house,
but I also experienced one of Bob’s friendly resident ghosts. I am a
clairvoyant medium; I can see, hear and communicate with those who have
passed and have done so since I was a child. There’s not a day that
goes by where I don’t see or hear from someone on the “other side”, but
it never ceases to amaze me when I experience each paranormal
phenomenon. When we are on travel, I sometimes conduct some quick
research on the hotel, inn or bed and breakfast of which we have
reservations to see if there are any known ghost stories. Usually I
prefer not to know the details so I can prove to myself the ghosts I
come in contact with, and I look at it as a way to hone my abilities. I
did look up ghost stories of the Morning Glory online quickly but at
that time found nothing on the house.
We
arrived in the late afternoon, and after a few moments of conversation
and introductions, Bob showed my husband and me to our room. Not five
minutes after Bob left us to settle in, the ghost of a young woman,
aged approximately 17-20 manifested directly in front of me. She was
dressed in a long gown from the late 1800s, early 1900s. It was white,
trimmed in royal or dark blue. She had very light brown or dark blonde
hair, pulled back off her face but it cascaded over her shoulders. She
smiled, and I turned to my husband saying “That didn’t take long”. The
young woman lingered for a moment, smiling at me and then slightly
nodded to us, as if she welcomed us into her home, and then
disappeared. I described her to my husband and we discussed how
neither of us knew of any ghost stories about the Morning Glory Bed and
Breakfast. Then again, in Salem, one would assume it’s hard to find a
building that doesn’t have some impressions left from the past!
As
I unpacked, my husband went to check his E-mail at the guest computer
in the shared living area of the second floor. He returned with a
soft-cover book in hand and said “Look what I found”. He opened the
book to a ghost story written about the Morning Glory by an author who
visited the house before, and surprisingly the story mentioned the
ghost of a 17-year old girl who continues to live on in the house. As
an adult, growing up with my abilities has changed my view of “ghosts”,
and after years of travel, research, documentation and writing about
haunted locations and ghosts from around the world, I have come to
easily sense those who are friendly and welcoming, and those who prefer
to leave a negative impact on the living.
Bob’s
ghosts are sincere, friendly and welcoming. I sensed other friendly yet
lively spirits in the house, though they did not manifest for me to see
them during our visit. The specters add even more character to the
Morning Glory Bed and Breakfast, and chances are, most visitors will be
lucky enough to experience the friendly ghosts, whether you hear them,
see them or literally feel them. Just remember, the young woman and the
children who “reside” in the Morning Glory Bed and Breakfast are
benevolent, providing a warm hospitable place for you and your family
to rest, relax and enjoy the company of Bob within the historical, yet
remarkable surroundings of Salem, MA.
